For the second consecutive year, the company Aguas y Saneamientos Argentinos was highlighted for its strategies to face the challenges of climate change. He also received a special mention for promoting inspiring and ambitious actions taking into account the local context.

This Program is supported by the African Water and Sanitation Association and aims to raise awareness of the measures being taken by water and sanitation companies operating in difficult conditions to respond to climate change. In this way, the award seeks to recognize public service companies in low- and middle-income countries that are leading the way towards a water and sanitation sector with reduced carbon emissions and promoting the necessary measures to mitigate climate change.

Among the actions taken into account to grant AySA this recognition, the following stand out: The implementation of the Energy Management System in pursuit of energy efficiency, The waste liquid treatment project with microalgae and the Annual Works Plan for Popular Neighborhoods 2023 which allowed for the integration of 103 technical-social intervention projects to expand secondary networks in areas of high socioeconomic vulnerability.

It is also worth noting that at the closing of the IWA Water and Development Congress, held on December 14 in the city of Kigali, Rwanda, AySA was represented by the International Affairs Directorate along with 20 water and sanitation operators from 18 countries. AySA, in this way, strengthens its leadership and becomes an ally of Climate Smart Utility, expanding its brand to the world.
